Preparing for Birth
If your reading this you are probably ready for you little one to arrive anyway! Or if you are like me you just found out and was to be as prepared as possible! This is why I curated a simple postpartum must haves checklist. Also at the end of this post you will be able to download a FREE hospital bag checklist as well! Congratulations and I hope this is just what you need for postpartum help.
Preparing your Postpartum Pads
Wether or not you have a vaginal birth or C-section you will need pads for the bleeding that will occur. This is a step you don’t have to go all crazy over but it is always good to be stocked! Nothing is more inconvenient than having an upset baby and noticing you are running low on pads!
If you do end up having a vaginal delivery padsicles are another option! Your lady part are going to go through the ringer and back and will need a bit of TLC. You may ,or may not, find it soothing to have a cooling element to your healing areas. Padsicles are a great start to getting you back you feeling your self.
These pads were my go to for both of my postpartum experiences!
Postpartum Peri bottle
This is a product that the hospital usually provides, but it is always good to be prepared for any postpartum experience! I only ever used the basic peri bottles and they worked perfectly. That being said for any future children I may invest in one like the Frida Baby peri bottle.
Postpartum Which Hazel Pads
The holy grail to both of my postpartum experiences was witch hazel pads! They worked miracles unlike anything I could have imagined! That is why they made it on to my postpartum must haves!! Just place a couple of the pads on top of an ice pad or padsicle and it will feel like heaven.
Water Bottle
Water is great for your body no matter who you are but especially after growing a sweet little angel! You have to to stay hydrated no doubt! Your body is going to go through a detox of hormones and water is a great way to help you manage that without actively having to think about it.
One of my favorite companies is called Legendairy Milk and they have the cutest water bottle with stickers to help you get through the challenges of motherhood, especially postpartum.
Nipple Cream
If you plan on breastfeeding having a nipple cream on hand can be a game changer. The first two weeks to sometimes a month can leave you feeling very sensitive. Nipple balm can help give relief until you and baby get the hang of things.
Lose Clothing
Lastly, some comfortable clothing to recover in is a must. A Night gown can really make for an effortless outfit. Or even a lounge set or two might be comfortable enough for you! Having clothes ready without having to go digging is just a nice treat for yourself in the moments of the mundane.
Family and friends
Lastly, and most importantly, line up you friend and family! There are going to be days all you need is a ear to listen or a nice hot cooked meal! That is why they say it takes a village especially for postpartum help. This is the nightgown I wore while laboring and postpartum.
Congratulations on your new little bundle of joy!
This is the most important job you will ever have! You got this!!
