Living out the lost traditions of motherhood, homemaking, and pure motivation…
I am Nadxiieli, but you can call me Shelly!
Thank you for taking the time to check out what we have to offer. The Art of Traditions is a place where we venture in to the hard and happy times of motherhood, caring for a home, and taking the old art of making do while turning it into a lifestyle full of slow living.
About Me
Born and raised in Wisconsin, I found the passion of being a wife, mother, and homemaker at pretty young age. As soon as I graduated high school I found my self going to beauty school to gain an education in cosmetology. In 11 long months I graduated beauty school and landed my self a job at a local spa in my town. After long days of hair-splinters and sore feet I somehow landed in a spot where I was doing hair on elderly clients( my oldest client being 115)! Every moment was a learning experience!
In September 2018 my husband, Nathaniel, and I finally sealed the deal officially making us high school sweethearts! We took some time enjoying good moments with friends and learning what married life was about. Soon after we found out we where expecting our first child! In February of 2020 we had an intimidating start to parenthood but found our selves learning more than we could have ever imagined.
As if we thought we got through a hard time we found our selves in a world of unknown. Which forced me to not to work , but thankfully helped me realized I could make being home possible. Especially after finding out we were expecting again. Guess what that meant? We where going to be parents of TWO UNDER TWO!
During my pregnancy with my second daughter I decided to brush up on skills I ignored. That is when I realized my deep passion for not just being a mom but a homemaker as well. Not just the traditional things as a homemaker like decorating, which I love to do. But creating a goal of one day having a home with land and being as self sufficient as possible. So I guess one would say working our way to our own type of homestead. I love doing everything from oil painting, renovating, and cooking. I even accidently found myself on a journey of healing my gluten/stomach issues with food as my medicine. So stay and join us on this new and even scary journey of the unknown!
Some odd things about us…
My husband and I are both adopted
All together I have 11 Siblings! (Both adoptive and biological)
My favorite place to visit is the Smokey Mountains! But for the most part we prefer being at home soaking up the cuddles of our girls and pets.
I much rather oil paint over draw even though painting is more of a challenge for me.
My name Nadxiieli means I love you.
Join me on the journey of new goals, failures, and adventures!
