Motherhood is hard, and sometimes we have to step back, and take a breather, for ourselves no matter what the circumstances are. However rest may look different for you but incase you are stuck, like I often get, here are someways to step out of life for a moment and come back refreshed and better than the moment before.
Just Some Reminders…
Whether you are a breastfeeding mom to a new born or still parenting some older children and it is causing burnout and your feelings are understood its all hard. In those moment of hardship remember comparison is a thief of joy. Grab a cup of coffee, or your treat of choice and read with the intent of positive reflection. You got this. Motherhood transforms us to being what the world needs for a better future ahead.
Nourish your body with goodness
You cannot go wrong with quality food! As much as the brownies smell good, and feel great with each bite it can make us feel quite the opposite after. I , for one, love food and if you find my stressed or sad that is my comfort if I can’t have time with my husband. That being said when you feed you body the wrong things its going to do the opposite of what you would like for your initial goal! what is that Goal? Reseting your motherhood life!
Most of the time starting slow is the way to go! So if you love a good chocolate bar like I? Maybe try a heathier more holistic snack? Like homemade yogurt with chocolate chips! I don’t know but what I do know is baby steps is key to any success, even reseting your day for better.
Allow yourself to listen to the noises of motherhood
Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mama, mama… It can feel like its never ending but as much as they do it they also spend as much time stay busy with other things. Huh? That is probably what you are thinking.
If you really sit down and think of the time you spend on your phone or computer around your children in your free time ( like now) for example your kids are probably napping or playing. Maybe they are even crying. Whatever that case may be just put down your phone and finishing reading this blog post later.
You back? Did you do it? Ahhh, probably not but thats okay. You have to read about what I mean first before you do it right? Okay, well what I mean about “listen to the noises of motherhood” is exactly that. Sit there and listen, and yes even the crying.
There is a reason why you are there. You where called to do this job. Motherhood is for the weak because it leaves your no choice but to become stronger.
Once bedtime rolls around, or they are sleeping you know you will wish you approached the day differently. So let those tears from your babies ring in your ear so you are reminded that you are someones comfort. And that someone just happens to be the most important little person in your life.
You are not suffering. As much as it may feel like it our heart can lead us astray. emotions are temporary and love is forever. And It’s okay that you’re not enough. You can’t fix the world , but you can be your child’s world in the best way you know how.
I could keep going but hopefully this can give you a peace of mind.
Motherhood is full of seasons. Take advantage.
You are going to miss this. Even if you don’t think you will. You will most likely look back and see how short that season was and how special it was in its own way. You will see that is is the only time you can show your children that how you react in the hard times is how you can continue to get through things.
Sometimes stepping back and remembering what you can control can help bring you to the reset you do need.
Motherhood Prayer
Spend time in prayer. Like I keep saying do it , even if they are screaming. Let the hard days bring you closer to you faith and family. This is what you need in the time of wanting to pull away. We so often find that escaping them is a way to be happy when in reality it is not. We are mothers, we have a fear of missing out with our families. And it is suppose to be that way because we are what directs our children to be the strength of this world.
TURN OFF YOUR PHONE
So turn off your phone. Pray. And hug your children.
You’ve got this. You are the best for your children.
After you turn off your phone read these motherhood books for inspiration…
